Morteza Hazbei
Morteza Hazbei is an interdisciplinary architectural researcher and lecturer whose work sits at the intersection of sustainable architecture, building science, and the socio-ethical implications of digital and computational tools. His research particularly examines how artificial intelligence and other emerging technologies are reshaping architectural practice, with a focus on how these tools can support more inclusive, accountable, and context-responsive design rather than reinforce standardization and inequity.
Across his research and teaching, he connects architectural decision-making to lived experience, social justice, and environmental performance. He is especially interested in the relationships between AI, parametric design, sustainability, accessibility, and cultural representation in the built environment. He has taught at the University of New Brunswick and Concordia University, completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Université de Montréal, and earned his interdisciplinary PhD in Architecture from Concordia University, where his doctoral research explored digital technologies in architecture through social and cultural lenses.
