Dr. Jorge Ramón Robledo-Ortiz

Dr. Jorge Ramón Robledo-Ortíz is a Full Professor at the University of Guadalajara in the Department of Wood, Cellulose, and Paper. He obtained his B.S. (2003), M.S. (2005), and Ph.D. (2009) in Chemical Engineering from the same university. He is currently recognized at the highest Level III in the Mexican National System of Researchers (SNII) and has served as president of the Mexican Academy of Research and Education in Chemical Engineering (AMIDIQ).

His research focuses on the processing, recycling, characterization, and application of polymeric materials, with a particular emphasis on developing sustainable biopolymers and biocomposites, and on improving their durability, environmental performance, and biodegradation. His work covers traditional industrial applications of these materials, such as construction, as well as urgent environmental issues, including pollutant adsorption and biodegradation. He received the 2010 Honorable Mention for Best Ph.D. Thesis from the National Polymer Society of Mexico and the award for University-Industry Collaboration from the University of Guadalajara, along with other colleagues (2014, 2016). Additionally, his graduate students have received the State of Jalisco Award for Science and Technological Innovation three times (2014, 2019, 2021).
