Editorial Responsibilities
Editorial Recruitment Policy and Workflow
The Journal of Green Construction Technology (JGCT) seeks to maintain an active, internationally representative, and academically strong Editorial Board that supports the Journal's scholarly mission and long-term development. Editorial appointments are intended for researchers and professionals with established expertise in areas relevant to green construction, sustainable building, construction technology, environmental performance, materials, infrastructure, and related fields.
Editorial Board members are expected to contribute meaningfully to the Journal's academic activities, support rigorous peer review, encourage high-quality submissions, and promote the Journal within relevant scholarly and professional communities. Appointments are based on academic achievement, subject expertise, professional standing, editorial experience, and willingness to participate actively in the Journal's activities.
Editorial Structure and Responsibilities
Editor-in-Chief
The Editor-in-Chief provides overall academic and editorial leadership for the Journal and is responsible for maintaining its scholarly direction, quality, and editorial standards. The Editor-in-Chief oversees the editorial process, makes or confirms final publication decisions, guides the development of the Editorial Board, and ensures that the Journal's policies and procedures are applied consistently.
The Editor-in-Chief also supports the Journal's development by identifying emerging areas of research, encouraging high-quality contributions, strengthening international visibility, and maintaining constructive relationships with authors, reviewers, editors, and the wider academic community.
Associate Editors
Associate Editors assist the Editor-in-Chief in managing manuscripts within their areas of expertise. They may conduct initial editorial assessments, oversee peer review, identify suitable reviewers, evaluate reviewer reports, communicate with authors, and provide recommendations concerning revision or publication.
Associate Editors are expected to ensure that manuscripts are handled efficiently, fairly, and in accordance with the Journal's editorial and publication policies. They may also contribute to Special Issue development, emerging thematic areas, and broader initiatives intended to strengthen the Journal's academic quality and reach.
Editorial Board Members
Editorial Board members serve as academic advisors and contributors to the Journal's development. Depending on their expertise and availability, they may review manuscripts, recommend qualified reviewers, provide specialist opinions, suggest emerging research themes, contribute to Special Issues, and advise the editorial team on matters relevant to the Journal's scope.
Members are also encouraged to promote the Journal within their academic and professional networks, encourage suitable high-quality submissions, recommend potential editorial contributors, and participate actively in scholarly initiatives associated with the Journal. Editorial Board members are expected to maintain confidentiality, impartiality, professionalism, and compliance with the Journal's applicable policies.
Guest Editors
Guest Editors appointed for Special Issues are responsible for supporting the development and coordination of their approved themes, promoting the thematic issue proposal among potential authors, collecting and monitoring submissions, assisting with the identification of suitable reviewers, and providing editorial recommendations. Special Issue manuscripts remain subject to the Journal's standard editorial and peer-review procedures, and final publication decisions remain with the Editor-in-Chief or an appropriately designated independent editor.
Editorial Recruitment
Potential Editorial Board members may be identified through their research and publication record, peer-review or editorial experience, previous contributions to the Journal, recommendations from existing editors or scholars, or recognized leadership within relevant academic and professional communities.
The Editor-in-Chief evaluates prospective candidates according to the Journal's current editorial needs and may consult existing editors when appropriate. Selection aims to achieve strong disciplinary coverage together with appropriate international, institutional, and professional diversity.
Selection Criteria, Appointment and Terms of Service
Editorial appointments are based on demonstrated expertise and the ability to make a meaningful contribution to the Journal. Consideration may be given to scholarly publications and research impact, subject expertise, peer-review and editorial experience, professional reputation, engagement with the field, and willingness to undertake editorial responsibilities. The Journal seeks an Editorial Board representing diverse geographical regions, institutions, disciplines, career backgrounds, and perspectives relevant to green construction technology. Diversity and broad representation are considered important for maintaining an internationally relevant and inclusive editorial structure.
Editorial Board appointments are made by formal invitation from the Editor-in-Chief and take effect upon acceptance by the invited scholar. Editorial Board membership is normally an honorary and unpaid academic appointment unless a different arrangement has been formally agreed. Members are expected to remain reasonably engaged with the Journal during their term and to undertake agreed editorial or review responsibilities in a timely and professional manner.
The Journal periodically reviews the composition and effectiveness of its Editorial Board. Appointments may be renewed where members remain actively engaged and their expertise continues to meet the Journal's needs. Membership may also be concluded when sustained inactivity, changes in professional circumstances, or evolving editorial requirements make a change appropriate.
